Bit of a rough patch...

Buschy's Blog sponsored by Sells USA

So it has been a few weeks since my last blog and alot has gone on.  After starting 6-2-1 in our first 9 games,we have hit a bit of a skid.  We have lost our last 3 games.  We first lost to DC 2-1 on a injury time goal. This was a tough one to deal with because we were playing at home and we gave up a late goal because we lost our shape in the back pushing for the game winner. We got caught one v one in the back and Emilo took advantage of it.  It was tough for me because I played my best game of the season during that game.  We should have tied that game 1-1.

Next we played Columbus in the Open Cup and beat them in OT 3-2.  It was a typical open cup game, back and forth with both teams having chances to win it.  We got a penalty kick with 5 minutes left in the second OT to win it and eliminate them.  Next we traveled to Dallas for a Sunday afternoon game in 100 degree heat.  We lost that game 1-0.  We didn't play that well as a team but still should have tied that game 1-1.  I had 9 saves that game so it was another busy one for me.  From there we went to Cali to play Chivas on Thursday night.  We lost to them 2-0.  We started well but couldn't finish our chances.  We played the entire second half a man up and couldn't seem to test there goalkeeper.  So we are in a little bit of a rut but, in this league every team goes through this during the season.

The good thing on a personal level is that I am playing really well.  I think I am playing the best I have ever played in the MLS.  I am hoping that my form will possibly get me a chance with the National team again.  Hopefully I am not the Robert Green of the USA, haha.  I would love just to get back in to the camp.  This would complete my comeback from my knee in my opinion.  It would give me the final say to so many people who doubted that I would return to my best.  Chewie knows who I am talking about, haha.

On another note, or rumor.  If my boy Shay Given goes to Arsenal, they will win the league.  Yes I said it,  mark my words, boys.  He is the gk they have been missing.  Although I am not sure if I can cheer for them but will try if Shay goes there.

That's it for now, got to go watch the Dutch play Russia.

All the best

buschy

Hi Jon, I'm new to the forums and was just wondering what kind of knee injury you had? I've had experience with knee problems as well.

T-Simp,

I had torn my ACL in back to back seasons, same knee.

I tore my acl and some cartilage 8 months ago, so I know to a certain extent what its like. I was able to rehab extensively enough in 4 months to get back for my senior year of soccer.

But to have two acl injuries and recover is truly amazing. I can only imagine.

Congratulations on your success so far and recovery from such devastating injuries.

Great to hear that you are playing extremely well Buschy

Jon is in the top ten for All Star voting, and is the statistical leader in goalkeeping in MLS.  He has been the most consistant, and by far the safest.  This year has seen some iffy goalkeeping in MLS, and GK's like Buschy are harder and harder to find in the league.

Hang in there Jon, as you say, all teams go through a patch. Your performance has been outstanding this season, keep up the great work. I for one would love to see you back in the National team camp.

I know what you mean about Given, as you know from training, the number of Given jerseys I have. I am not a Gunners fan, but I would have to at least adopt them as a secondary team due to Shay. I have respected his decision to stay with Newcastle all these years without winning any silverware. I also would respect his decision to to join Arsenal in an attempt at earning the rewards his performances deserve.

I hope Arsenal sells keeper shirts.....

Best of luck with the rest of the season!

Hopefully things will pick up,from youtube I've not seen any of this down turn to be your fault.

So all the best for the next few games.

Shay Given,I dont think he been great the last 2 seasons.

But I could say that for EVERY Irish international.

And I loved to be proved wrong :P

Great stuff buschy. I've seen two of the last three games and you are in sparkling form. The team aren't far off either, just shows what a  fine line there is between winning and losing.

Well played Bushy lad! seen all the highlights and being honest you have to be in the International frame soon.

As for the All Star voting, Buschy and Sutton have been by far the best keepers in the MLS and i hope they both get to play in the All Star Game. I never used to rate Sutton put he has proved me wrong this year and has been great. I hope they get the rewards they deserve and keepers dont get in on name alone Eg Hartmann, Reis, Guzan

Just saw the Chivas highlights on TV here in the UK, nothing you could do about the goals mate and you pulled off some good saves.

I am a bit torn re: your next Open Cup match with Clevelands USL2 City Stars, Buschy. My son is interning with them this summer and is traveling with the team. I guess, my hope is that you don't play and the Fire lose, but don't take it personally, lol. They have two very nice keepers...Hunter Gilstrap, who starts tomorrow, appears to be the real deal, but it will be a stertch for them--beating the Fire is not like beating a USL1 team on the road as they did last week to advance.

Based on what I have seen this year, you deserve a shot with the USMNT.

Jon, I understand you got to meet my son (he ended up doing play-by-play of the webcast) and sigfned a couple GOAL cards for him (and me). Too bad our little USL2 team couldn;t do better. Thanks!

That was your son, I wish he would have told me.  I was walking out and he just asked for me to sign to cards.  Next time have him tell me his is your son.

thanks
