I bet none of you saw this coming!!!

Glove Name: The One Glove

Manufacturer: One Glove

Year First Made: 2005

Glove Cut: Roll Finger

Description:
The One Glove is a lightweight glove that is made mostly from latex. It has a 3MM supersoft palm and is ideal for all levels of play. They are a great value for money glove costing around £21.99 and in my opinion can perform well in most conditions.

Reason for Nomination: A great value for money glove that performs well and consistently. It offers a nice fit and are comfortable. They provide a good feel for the ball without sacrficing shot absorption. I think they are suitable for any standard from grassroots to professional.

Induct the One GLove into the TGB Glove Hall of Fame?

  • Yes (48.6%)
  • No (51.4%)
  • Total Votes: 37
  • Voting Ended: 10/4/2008

Dida still needs a team! lol

Why be negative when you can be Positive? Beats me!

Keepers are criticised and praised, its the keepers choice to decide what to listen to.

I had to go with a No on this one.  Not saying this is not a worthy glove I just don't think it's quite there yet.  I almost feel like any glove to get nominated should have a bit of longevity.

I'd give the One Glove an honorable mention for this season.

That is a fair opinion. Not everyone will agree about the Hall of Fame gloves.

I think its worth it IMHO.

I voted yes because it was the 1st quality 'Discount' glove that spanned many others good and bad and chnaged the way some us buy gloves.

For me nothing can beat it in cold, wet and muddy conditions.

I voted yes because I have used this glove and it is a good glove at a great price.

But I think it should go into the Hall of Fame because of the fact that The One Glove company is independent and has it's own brand identity and the One Glove is an original.

If that is the case, then the Ad Ultra would fall under the same category.

i voted yes, because the One glove was the catalyst for a whole generation of high quality budget gloves and that has benefited us as keepers probably more than any other innovation.

it might not have been the best glove ever but in terms of value for money the One glove was fantastic - and it opened a lot of doors for others.

Well Yes I think the Sells Adhesion Ultra wrap should be nominated as well.

I hate to vote no to any quality glove, but would have to vote no in this case. There's no doubting its quality, and it did make an impact by being one of the first startup companies producing an inexpensive glove.  But it remains to be seen if they will have a lasting impact, and their use in the professional game has been very limited.

I haven't voted yet, but I would be inclined to give One Glove a nod, because of its impact on the marketplace. Their's was the first glove that offered high quality roll-finger glove with fleece material at a lower- to mid-range price point. They offered a viable alternative to the Nike-Adidas-Uhlsport-Reusch stranglehold. I think the One Glove changed how goalkeeper shopped for gloves, giving consideration to D-Flekt, KA Goalkeeping, Pro-GK and Zapkam ect....

So, based on that, I would say yes. My nominees for Hall of Fame consideration would be the Uhl 034, Reusch Tony Meola (first mass marketed rollfinger glove in the U.S), first Adidas Fingersave (though bulky and heavy, it revolutionized the finger support glove), Selsport Wrappa, Sells Dual Adhesion, and Puma V-Kat.

By the way, I haven't owned Puma V-Kats, but I think that model and its endorsees established Puma as a major player in the glove market.

Talk amongst yourselves....

Unfortunately (and surprisingly IMHO) the One Glove has not received enough votes to be inducted into the TGB Glove Hall of Fame.
