OK Glove Geeks. No prizes for this one but who can name this glove that Swedish Goalkeeeper Ronnie Hellstrom is wearing. I am thinking Reusch or KKS but not quite sure.
Any thoughts?
I know he wore reusch later, and I beleive he had his own sports shop in Sweeden. I love the look of these. Look quite thick for the time.
Surround cut!
I know nothing about the Hellstrom's but they do have similar design charateristics to the KKS Maiers Jimmy mentioned in terms of the big initial letter on the back and stripey elastic strap. I did ask a mate of mine who's very knowledgeable about these things and here's what he told me:
"Not sure who these "Hellstroms" were manufactured by, looking at the shape of the backhand with the rounded fingers it's very unlikely to be Reusch but as he was in Germany playing KKS might be the shout.
I had a pair (in the Swedish colours of yellow and blue) as John Burridge managed to get a supply direct from Sweden round about the same time as the Curcovic's appeared, so he sent some to me. I had seen a pair already as the late Mark Kendall ( ex Spurs GK ) went on tour to Sweden with Spurs and bought a couple of pairs back.
Hellstrom later had Reusch make his gloves for him, but they always carried the "H" logo. In fact I think he is in some of the old Reusch brochures wearing his logoed gloves. For many years after he finished playing the Reusch/Hellstrom's were still available in sports shops in Sweden. Not sure if they still are!"
