REVIEW
Ok so it’s been like a year or so since I’ve written a review, so thought with my first real new and not cheap ebay jobbies or anything I’d do a review, plus these haven’t been reviewed for about 2 years or something, so thought an update would be on appreciated, now we have all heard amazingly great things about Sells SS latex when it comes to the roll finger exclusive, but considering most keepers are screaming out for a good Negative cut glove, I’m amazed more people aren’t singing this gloves praises (get the vibe of the review yet?)

DURABILITY
So I’ve taken these for a run in training and in a game on the weekend, which had the literal ‘4 seasons in one day’ kiwi thing! A bit of misty drizzle, torrential downpour, cleared to sunny skies… and Autumn is covered by the leaves that were all covering my goal box, and hiding the penalty box lines! But as of writing this and giving them a good clean there isn’t a nick on them, not a single one. More over, I was fairly busy in the game (we lost 4-2, one of our goals coming straight from a punt, to striker to goal, go me). So I have to say unless in the next game the gloves fall apart, I should get a season out of these no worries!

DRY GRIP
Gold – I’ve been a staunch supporter of HO’s Flexigrip latex for a few years, but these have me sold. After a pre-wash and when dry, like bone dry these things were gripping. Normally gloves are like the metaphorical dry sponge, complete rubbish, till you give em a bit a of water. No worries with these, complete confidence with crosses, I’m a small guy (5’8 ), but I was pulling down crosses which I wouldn’t even normally try for!

WET GRIP
Now I’ve read poorer things about the grip in the wet and how it drops off quickly with Sells SS, so when the rain started I was stressing, but I backed them… never know unless you try right? Well they did just as good, even with muck and leaves on my gloves, these things just wanted to hold onto a ball. I continued to rock out for the corners and grab those suckers, in no way were the goals conceded in the game due to poor handling, I got my hands on something and they stuck, fantastic!

COSMETICS
Hotttt, black and white with some gold trim… mmmm porno-goodness!

FIT/COMFORT
Thick, that’s one word to sum these suckers up, if you like internal latex you'll have no problem with the thickness, but considering negative gloves are all suppose to be about the touch and feel, these things threw that out the window. However, saying that I knew where the ball was at all times, and had no problem with the feel, they just really tell you that you are wearing gloves when you’ve got them on!
The bandage entry is a little loose for me, coming from the Titan pro, and Gunn Cut from Nike, these felt a little sloppy, however I have found this to be the way with Sells gloves, I just feel they don’t quite get wrist straps on their lower end gloves (SS, Dual Adhesion as opposed to Ultra Wrap which I haven’t tried), but the Velcro on the actual glove and not the strap, I always found to be placed wonkily and to close to the latex, and as such the wrist strap sits quite high on the bandage entry. So could be improved there.
Backhand, sweet, nice, latex, chunky.
These things just make you feel confident, they are big, but they are gentle, kinda like a well-trained Wookie!

SUMMARY
These things rock out, I think I’m pretty much sold on Sells SS latex, its cheap, its grippy, its durable, it rocks out really. Buy these suckers on the cheap when Sells release their new line, cause if you don’t, I will!

PROS

RATINGS (out of 5)
Dry Grip: 5
Wet Grip: 4 (in comparison to Dry)

They are just that damn good, especially at that price. Screw the Ultra wrap, I’m buying three of these!

I am very much in the same opinion on ANY of the Sells gloves that feature their SS palm.  Always fantasitc.  Great review!

I'm with Chewie on this one.  Sells SS is very dependable and underrated latex.  I always have a pair in my glove bag. I personally prefer Ultra in very wet conditions but SS is still very good.

does anyone else have the opinion that this glove runs extraordinarily large? my 8.5 drowns my hands, especially on the backhand. i usually take a 9.

I have a pair of size 9 which is my normal size. They fit okay.  I would probably get an 8.5 next time so that they were a little snugger though.

I had two pairs, one in a 8.5 and another in size 9. The one in a nine was a little too big for me. I usually take a size 9 in Sells, but this model is a little too baggy, specially in the lower backhand, near the wrist. I gave the size 9 to my club mate Nuno whom has bigger hands and he loved them. He didn´t know the brand, but now he is hooked on SGP. He says that these gloves improved his distribution 50 per cent ... The only thing he only likes flat palm and negative cut gloves ... He hates roll-finger gloves, which narrows his choices with Sells..Too Continental-style keeper, I guess ...

This model runs maybe 1/2 size on the larger side. Go half a size down.

As whit the HO MGC II, another quality review by Thelastnomad. Keep them coming ...

I was suprised by the sizing of this glove. Got a pair a few days ago in size 8! when i am usually an 8.5-9 !

Used these in a light training session and was found the fit to be incredibly comfortable.

I believe the new version of this glove is based on the contour backhand with black neoprene gussets......

The gussets on the new Contour Comfort are now going to be black latex, not neoprene (unless there was ANOTHER change!)

No, the twits said they wouldn't deal with me until I have a brick & mortar storefront! As long as I am buying inventory from them & not asking them to drop ship every order to me what do they care if I have a walk in store or sell soley on the internet?! Their loss.

Thanks for the info Old Us

In comparison to the backhand used on the current comfort et al. I feel that the contour backhand is a lot flimsier/lightweight. I own a pair of contour supersoft flats and while i like the glove, i feel that the backhand could do with some bulking up.

Also when can we see pictures of the new line, i have seen photos on a german forum Wink and was hoping that we could get photos of the full range here, especially as it must be getting relatively close to the release date

We are hoping to have official pictures (i.e not leaked!) available to us at the end of April. It will be worth the wait.
