How do you store your gloves between matches/trainings?

In a glove bag, palms facing away from each other.

Don't you find if you keep them damp/wet so they never really dry out, they start to reek?

To be honest no, and no1 else picks up on the smell. I also have a plug in air freshner so that probably helps

I do NOT recommend storing them in plastic bags with any moisture, as you are just inviting a fungus to ruin your gloves. I wash my gloves immediately when I get home, press all the water out of them doing the towel/step treatment, and then let them dry in my closet until the next match. I would not store them in my glove bag, as that needs to dry out on a regular basis. Spraying your glove bag with a disinfectant like Lysol would not be a bad idea as well, as a bag can grow mold & spread fungus like mad.

Ok cheers for the advice i will do that instead. I only did that because i got recommended by Benji to do it (JBgoalkeeping.com). Also what i didnt say is that i makre sure the gloves are dry when i put them in bags but maybe it would be better to keep them in a closet.

If the gloves are dry & they are not going to be used for a while, then storing them in the plastic bags in a glove bag is perfectly OK. My concern was that some thought you were storing them damp.

Here is how I do mine:

When I get home after a match, soak it under a bucket of water.  Cover it to prevent Sunlight.  Leave it for the night.  Next day, wash it with gloves wash.  Tower/Step to dry the gloves as much as possible.  Leave it in a closet to dry the rest of it.  After it is completely dry, I'll put it into my gloves bag and waiting for the next match

Wait, so you submerge them and leave them in a bucket of water overnight?

No. He means dunk them in water to rinse them after a game and let them dry (no sunlight or heat). Then he washes them again the next day and towel dries them, then puts them in the glove bag. This isn't terribly complicated. All you have to do is make sure that your gloves are relatively clean after playing or practice by rinsing them, maybe using a bit of glove wash to get rid of soil or dirt that may harm the latex. Then letting them dry naturally, without heat, so as not to dry the palms out. You will wan't to store them with a minimal amount of moisture so that they won't dry out, but not enough so that mold or fungus will grow on them.

Sorry to drag this back up guys but what's the best way to preserve gloves you wont be using for a while? I'm at that stage of the season where games arent that often and soon the season will be finished so some of my gloves wont be used. How can I keep the grip from fading (if I can)?

Cheers

D
