After Yelco's enquiry about them in Logan Bailly post, I thought I would try and find some more information about them. It's an odd one ... they seem to have been around awhile but hardly anybody wears there product and/or sales the gloves.
I did find some old catalogs on http://www.falksiemering.de, with one dated 1994, being the earliest with some interesting looking gloves ....
and we also had a Real-Tec autograph card on here ....
Jimmy,
Are Reader still about? they used to make very similar gloves to REAL. I think the full name was Alfred Reader. they also made cricket gear
looks like the early nike tactility nodes on that second pic.....read something in another post about today's glove designers or whatever you want to call them look to other brands or previous gloves i suppose. well thanks jimmy for the deep research but did you find a website where perhaps i could find some gloves that bailly is wearing in those picture??
thanks
Yes mate. Hard ones to find actually but I did manage to find a couple of websites for you ...
http://www.freetime-sports.nl/
www.ps-sport.com/Real.html
they sit somewhere looks wise between oldskool Sondico and Reusch.
There was a Sondico glove with that dotted palm.
thank you very much jimmy for taking your time to research them.
also before i shutup.....does he still wear real cuz i've never been exposed to belgium soccer where i live??
I have a feeeling he has switched to Puma Yelco. Cheers
haha your quite speedy at this...
update on the Real Tec gloves : looks like a new company in Belgium is importing/producing (not sure where the gloves originate from) Real gloves at this moment. There's a new website up: http://www.realtec.be/welcometorealtec.html and a catalogue can be downloaded from the site. I have tried to upload the file into the TGB-Media section but I do not seem have permission to do so...
The gloves are worn by several goalkeepers in the Belgian Jupiler League (Stijn Stijnen - Club Brugge, Mark Volders - Mouscron, Bertrand Lacquait - Charlerio, Bram Verbiest - Cercle Brugge, Jorgazevic - AA Gent, Yves De Winter - VC Westerlo). Have not tried the new range myself, but am tempted to try out the Roll Finger modell...
not sure if they are being imported anywhere else in Europe or in the UK...?
I wonder if they were ever tied with 1FC. The gloves look very similar and the pair with the nodes looks almost identical to a pair I had.
The 1FC, Real, and Sondico gloves were all made at the same factory RC, probably where the similarities come from.
I saw an an Athletico Minero game on TV & Taffarel was wearing them @ one point in Brazillian league (1996). Also got a catalog from the UK's very own Soccer Scene & they had a smattering of Real gloves
Forgot about that. They were more than similar they were identical. The dots were supposed to help with durability but instead they would tear out more foam once they started to go.
