MactheCatNo1: bk1: Copa's everytime for me Im afraid. I use the mixed soled copa's when its soft. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Couldn't agree more. Just returned using them after a few years trying others but dont know why i strayed really. Will be investing in the copa convertions when i need SG boots for sure. My last pair of copas lasted 6 years!

I recently got a pair and I love them. They make me feel professional and they are comfortable. The leather is as soft as a pillow and I find them easy to clean other than the tounge. No wonder I had so much trouble getting a pair....They are a 'proper' boot and I can see why the old skool keepers like them. I dont think I will change now. It's a shame the World Cups dont fit me but the Puma King's arent a bad pair either. Not as good as the Copa in my opinion.

Dida still needs a team! lol
Why be negative when you can be Positive? Beats me!
Keepers are criticised and praised, its the keepers choice to decide what to listen to.
I switch between the Total 90 (Leather version) and the Legend. Both fit me extremely well (Total 90 slightly better). Used to wear the Copa and the King in years past but changes in the fit made me walk away and now obvious reasons keep me away.
I just got some copas today ! they feel brilliant ! I needed a pair of fg boots so I thought I'd go with a classic.
have to be the most comfortable boots I've worn, and as others have said, by for comfort and fit not for gimmicks.
If preds etc fit and are comfortable for you, buy them ! its all personal preference.
Cheers
so if im a size uk 11.5 in the powerpulse, do you reckon that the fit will be right for me if i get a uk 11.5 in the copas?
i have wide feet that dont go well with most boots, causing them to tear eventually at the top portion for many brands of boots i have tried other then mizuno.
oh and do jk show their sizes in uk or us sizes? just wondering.
cheers!
Guys, what is better for a goalkeeper? A boot with conical, or blade studs?
Wee, JK has a sizing chart here, the normal JK store shows UK sizes while the USA JK store shows them in US I believe.
Interesting thread - in terms of boots obviously this is a personal thing it comes down to as the guys have said previously trying on lots of different boots and finding the most comfortable ones - I would say though try on all sorts of different stud variations both moulds and permanant studs, the reason for this is whilst living in the UK I used to go to different cobblers (shoe repairers) and have the stud set up changed on the boots, so that I could have a mix of moulds and permanant studs placed in (I think a boot company called A-Line also do the same thing as standard though) - I found that this provided me with the most comfort and tailored the boots to me.....in my expereince I have found that durablity is not effected (I do change boots every 4/5 months though) and the cost is not that heavy.....Just a thought encase anyone else finds boots that they don't think are sutible for the conditions they play in
i have tried most of the brands and found my favourite boots are copas and mizunos. i have found mizunos to have some of the best leather out there and you get a great feel for the ball
personally i don't think there is a set best boot, it is all down to comfort and your own preference
also i am a 12.5 in preds and a 12 in copas. hope that helps
I always loved my Uhlsport Gk boots, but they were the first model that the likes of Tim flowers etc wore. I only replaced them when I got given a pre production pair of the first predator absolutes.
Since then Ive found Ive found the best fitting boot has been Mizuno.
Copa's are the second favorite boot I have owned. The first have to be the adipures. They're lighter and seem closer to the ground. They fit my feet brilliantly and I have not gotten blisters or any discomfort whatsoever in them. It's a shame adidas ALWAYS has to ruin a good thing and are releasing modified one's for the next line...
Goalkeeping is not just a position on the field, it is a way of life, it is an attitude on and off the field.
Wearing Puma Kings right now. Have been wearing black old school boots for three or four years now and I am not about to change (Had an unfortunate mishap one year when I purchased some yellow and green nike vapours-they looked awful!)
Got a pair of Adidas Copa mundials, with teh converted mix sole on ebay just now.

Gives great comfort and grip, just a tad tight for me

I'm using a pair of lotto zhero g's atm. Awesome pair of boots, even though they are a bit expensive. I was lucky enough to get a pair at half price though. Comfort is great and the synthetic really is about as water-proof as water-proof gets.
BonafideZulu: Guys, what is better for a goalkeeper? A boot with conical, or blade studs?
There's a school of thought that blades are more likely to contribute to serious knee injuries when a conical stud wouldn't. Seems the blades prevent the foot and leg rotating a little under certain loads which means the knee (and its ligaments) do the rotation. Ouch. I know of at least one major EPL club that banned its youth players wearing them for this reason. Much hard to stop the pros with their big endorsements though...
Having said that, I was wearing conicals when my ACL snapped.
There has been a few looks into whether blades or conical studs are better. Once again it all depends on how and where you play.
For GK's it's probably safer to go with conical studs.
My favorites right now are my Adidas Profi Ligas, which are basically exactly the same as the copa. I have a pair of Nike Legends and the Concave PT1's, but for some reason my kicking all around is much better in the Adidas.
