Review:
Just got these from Vic. Training tonight was cancelled because of light snow on the pitch, but it was clear enough for me to take a few shots and give an initial impression of these gloves.
The fit & comfort is superb. After a prewash a couple of days ago, the grip on a damp turf pitch was good - not outstanding, but I get the feeling these will need a session or two to 'bed in.' Prior to the prewash, the grip felt very slick and powdery, and I find latex like that needs a session or two. Selsport says this palm is suitable for all conditions when kept dampened.
It's getting too cold for my Comfort Contours and their very thin fabric body, so that's why I gave these a try. They do keep the hands pretty warm. There is an interesting hard plate underneath the latex wrist strap insert. Some will like this, as it provides protection for a part of the palm we do sometimes use to make saves. I'm not crazy about it, but it's pretty easy to ignore.
I think it's a nice-looking glove, in a simple black/white colorway, though I'd have preferred the traditional Selsport high-grooved backhand, instead of the half grooved-half smooth backhand they seem to have randomly decided on here.
One nice thing - I prewashed them in the shower, got them really soaked, and it took a long time before I felt the water come through to my hands. So there is a degree of water-resistance, which will be nice in the coming winter.
I believe this is last year's model, replaced by the virtually identical (slightly different wrist strap) Interna II. This glove is considerably less than the Wrappa series- 2 pair for 50 pounds from PDS - while affording the same level of quality and comfort. I'll update this with a full performance review after a complete training session or match, but from initial impressions I would recommend this as a quality glove at an affordable price.
Selsport calls it Nylex. It's basically a soft nylon, a little softer I would say than PU. It's really only the thumb - almost the entire backhand is latex, except for a thin strip of Nylex at the top of the bandage.
I had last season version of this glove. I have to say whist the fit and grip was great, the durability was really poor.
Big chunks came out of the palm during warm up in the 1st game i used them. And they were not match worthy after a 2nd game. It was in the summer months when the pitch was really dry but i still expected more from them.

I'm with oldus on these, I love them and found them incredible durable. Shame they are such a pain to get hold of.
Old US Keeper:That is strange, as I love XSG+ latex & have found it to be very durable, personally. I still have a pair of 2003 Absorbs with XSG+ that STILL look almost new.
It might have been the case that i had a faulty pair.
have seen these quite a lot on ebay uk of late, if people are scoping for some.
Justin are these your first Selsport? welcome to the darkside if so
Yes Drop these are my first Selsports. So far I really like these badboys, lol.
haha
glad you like them Sir.
yep I think they make quality gloves, its their 10th aniversary next year.
I find Selsport to be a slightly mysterious company. Maybe because the people behind Sells and HO have done interviews, adidas, Puma, and Nike are all big companies, and Uhlsport and Reusch have been around forever...so, who is behind Selsport?
Watch this space Justin! ;) ;)
Cool.
Gave these a full runout today, just me and a teammate for two hours. Difficult conditions for a new glove - very cold and dry with no humidity in the air at all, therefore the balls felt very powdery and slippery at first. I dampened the gloves and the grip improved.
This is a really, really comfortable glove. The internal latex made it feel a little stiff at first, but after a few minutes they felt broken-in. The grip progressively got better, but it never was amazing and I feel there is still more to come. The palm offered very good shock absorption.
It was a very cold day and the glove kept my hands reasonably warm and I didn't feel the strong wind that was blowing. Overall I recommend this glove, tho I know it's pretty hard to find a pair anywhere.
I wondered how you were getting on with these
yep very comfortable and shock absorption, and I think more to come with the grip.
