I had a simular problem with the aqua's i ended up sending them back to sells and got a replacement pair which i have only used a few times.

Sells said to me after looking at my gloves that it is because they have been washed in the washing machine but every pair of gloves i have ever owned have been washed in the same way and they decided to send me out a new pair.

I 'Loved' the wrap i never thought you could beat them the grip, comfort, design, and feel they gave you but i tried the Evo's and these gloves are 10 times better and i haven't had a single problem with them. I had worn them for 3/4 of the season and i used to play at one point 6 games a week in them. Amazing glove!!!!!!!!!!

When you pull your gloves off are you holding the glove by the middle/ring fingers & pulling the glove off? From my experience 99% of ALL these tears are the result of yanking the glove off in this manner. You need to work the glove off slowly until it can easily come off. The seam for the fingers is not meant to resist that kind of stress.

I have got the Ultra Total Contact Evo's. Mine split under the two middle fingers on more than two pairs. I know on this years version they said to me when they sent a new pair out they were going to double stitch that part as there has been many complaints about this problem.

Get the Evo's honestly the best glove you will wear, i know this may sound silly but with the wrap's my hands felt strong and just the way the glove fitted to my hand was perfect but the Evo's are fantastic. Definatly getting a pair or three for next season Big Smile

no its not tht.. its happend a couple of times when i have put the glove on .. and a tear in the seam of the middle fingers occurs from just trying them on ... then it just gets worst after playing.

I have both the wraps and the TCE, and the TCE is far superior in terms of fit and feel. but the AW is a great glove non the less and hasn't let me down either, only compliant is wrist entry is tight and is getting a bit of a hole in it from thumb digging in to pull it on. other than that top glove.

Are you trying to wear the glove too snug? It sounds like maybe you have a large palm that does not fit the Sells patern for the glove. This has ben the case for me with Puma gloves. I usually need to wear a size 11 in Puma for my palm to fit correctly.

i have had wraps, roll finger guards and a pair of last years jk neg cut smu split on me. this along with the thumb's on their 8.5 gloves being way too big put me off of sells to be honest. you cannot fault the grip one tiny bit, which is easily amongst the best out there (be it ss, aqua or super4) but i have long had quality issues with them. old ad plus gloves split on me, and i had latex die on to pairs of the old wrap after only a few games.

they also (so far) have been incapaple of getting thier flat palm sizing anywhere near right (they are always at least a half size too big) the 2006/2007 comfort neg cut (supposedly a tight fitting glove) was too big also . the guard sizing was very odd too. the duo flat was perfect , the flat was around 1/2 small and the roll finger was at least one size (probably 1 & 1/2 sizes) too small . i do not see how that can happen . i know you can buy smaller sizes, but it makes it difficult when buying over the internet.

The likes of Puma & Reuschhave got it spot on. i can order an 8.5 in any of their gloves and they all fit perfectly

I will round this off by saying that i may well be being unreasonable (andi appologise if i am), but from a top end (especially price wise) company, i would expect top end quality. My D-Flekt's grip easily as well as the sells SS in all weathers and are as good, if not better in terms of fit and build quality (they are also at least £10 cheaper than the equivalent Sells model)

Hi guys,

I just thought this might be the best place to ask since everybody on here appears to have a lot of experience with this particular glove.  I've only recently bought a pair and followed the pre-wash instructions I read about on the forums here (never done it before).  I've got absolutely no issues with the grip, it's great!  I'm just looking to get your thoughts on the durability of the glove.  I'm basically going to use it for training as well as matches but have noticed that it wears much quicker than some of my previous gloves (I know that it's probably because of the softer latext, better grip but less durability).

I guess my question to you then is how long these gloves have lasted for you and whether you guys train as well as use them for matches?  Or just for matches exclusively?  (then again, seeing the gloves pictures thread you guys seem to have quite a few pairs of gloves each to pick from!)  Big Smile

I think the average is about 10 games.

Dida still needs a team! lol

Why be negative when you can be Positive? Beats me!

Keepers are criticised and praised, its the keepers choice to decide what to listen to.

You need to keep the latex much damper than normal or durability will suffer.  I learned the hard way as my gloves flaked if I just dampened them prior to match.   Now I make sure I spray them regularly and the don't flake any more than SS.

How long they ultimately last, like any glove, depends on field conditions, technique, etc

Thanks guys!  I'll take the advice and keep the latex damped more than normal - I've noticed that it does flake VERY easily when dry.
And based on what Dida has said, I'll just enjoy using them for as long as they do last - which might not be too long!  Well, the best way is to just give it a go!

Incidentally, do any of you guys have issues with your gloves wearing at the finger tips based on how you put them on?  After I've put on one glove, I have to use that same hand to put on the second glove of course.  And the adjustments to the wrist strap and pulling the glove on tends to wear at the latex too I've found.

I guess it's just par for the course.  Have you guys found this too?
