The Sondico's are very similar to an old pair that I picked up on eBay a few years ago. Way to small for me, else they would have been a candidate to "pimp" but still a nice little collectors item.

Those red ones look exactly like the ones Shilton, Clemence and a few others wore.   Not sure if it is the same palm or not though.

Jimmy's pair looks like it came before the later, more sophisticated latex palm model, which I had. They had a simpler dimple pattern - just little dimples in a nice soft latex. Also the Sondico logo on the backhand was a label, rather than made of the same material as the punching surface. Really an excellent glove for it's time.

Not far off Justin Yes. I had numerous pairs of the above glove when growing up - what I consider to be my firsy 'proper' goalkeeper glove (going away from the pimply table tennis bat style of the time), my how times have changed. These really seemed a big jump from the pimpled palms.....I must have been around 9 or 10 years old Embarrassed??? Ah Happy memoriesBig Smile

But like you Justin the logo on the backhand of mine was a label rather than made of the latex like above. The above model came out a few years after the 'label' version and was exactly the same glove but for this slight amendment. I think I had a pair of the above as well......remember the label fading and peeling off after a few washes??????

Like you say the glove Shilton, Clemence, Corrigan et al wore was a dimpled latex palm (and YES very advanced for the time). It was around at the same time as the above glove but like a higher end version. I suppose you could consider the above model a sort of a kids/replique version........

i had those justin too. they had a better fit than many of todays £40+ flat palm gloves!!! good grip in all weathers too (although the stickered logo soon fell off in the rain leaving a horrible glue residue behind that you had to clean off

since many firms are now trying embossing on thier palms again (quite a few 80's gloves had it) i wonder if any will try an update of the dimpled palm ??
