Jeff Weston of Jerome Anderson Management. xxx Tel: xx Fax: xx , phoned having been given my name by Jill. He wanted to know if Kevin Pressman of Sheffield Wednesday could have free goods. I said yes and offered a normal 2 year contract, which he asked to be changed to 1 year and this I agreed. Last season Kevin played some games in the Sheffield Wednesday first team, but really the first team goalkeeper was Chris Turner. Kevin will be 22 years old in November and has played for England Under 18's. Mr.Weston also said that he represented David Seaman of Queens Park Rangers the England No.2/No.3 goalkeeper. He wears Reusch but apparently he may be looking to change especially if he changes clubs, which is possibly expected to happen next week. I said that uhlsport would be interested in him and asked to be kept informed of the situation.

20th July 1989

I sent to Jeff Weston 2 copies of a contract for Kevin Pressman along with an uhlsport catalogue. I asked for 1 contract to be signed and returned to me.

20th July 1989 3.50

Kevin Pressman, Sheffield Wednesday, phoned to say that he had spoken to Jeff Weston and that his glove size was 9. He started asking for elbow pads, knee pads, padded trousers etc., and I said that the contract was really for gloves only although I could probably let him have a pair of trousers. He was not familiar with the gloves so I told him that an uhlsport catalogue had been sent to Jeff Weston with his contract. He said that he would be in Oxford tomorrow and would call in to see me if he was able to.

20th July 1989 4.50

While speaking to Line 7 about outstanding orders, Jim McNamara who was with Jill asked to speak to me. He said that he had been contacted by Jim McArthur, who was the Line 7 agent in Scotland, saying that the Scottish Under 21 goalkeeper was having problems with getting gloves. I said that the last Scotland Under 21 game was against France when Alan Main was selected but could not play and Les Fridge played. I told Jim that Les Fridge has been under contract for over 2 years and that Alan Main was offered a contract in March 1989 which was immediately accepted. I confirmed that to the best of my knowledge since being under contract both players had been sent virtually everything they had asked for, and on the same day they asked for it. I suggested that if Jim McArthur thinks that there is a problem he should contact me himself.

21st July 1989 9.30

Roger Hansbury, Birmingham, phoned to request some gloves for next season. I said that he was no longer able to have free gloves but could buy at special prices. He said that he would think about it and check with the club. Birmingham are now 3rd Division and he is usually the reserve rather than first choice.

21st July 1989 4.00

Roger Freestone, Chelsea reserves, phoned to see if his goods only contract could be renewed. I said that yes I would offer him another 2 year goods only contract. Although he is in Chelsea reserves they are now back in Division 1 and he is still young, 21 next month, and still might have a good future in the game. He said that he needed gloves today as going to Sweden on Monday, therefore would come to the shop to see me.

Reinhard phoned to tell me that the trade price for the 5 454 Overall is £30, in response to an enquiry by Ken Veysey of Torquay United. We also talked about E.X.S.L. and agreed that top goalkeepers like Peter Shilton, Neville Southall, Jim Leighton, Erik Thorstvedt, John Lukic should be asked to attend. I suggested that it should be ensured that there was a photographer present. Sunday is the busiest day for buyers and also easiest for goalkeepers to attend. I suggested that if possible it should be planned that at least one of them is on the stand at all times during Sunday. Reinhard said that he would look into it and then contact the goalkeepers himself.
