11th October 1991

I received back from Gerry Peyton, Everton, the pair of 578 trousers Medium. The packaging said XL and I had sent them as XL, although the garment label does say Medium.

11th October 1991

Having received a delivery I sent to Les Fridge, St.Mirren, 2 pairs 036 size 9 (No.62).

12th October 1991

I wrote to Michael Watt, Aberdeen, to inform him that no more 043 gloves will be available, and to send him a Sukan catalogue to show the other gloves I do have available.

12th October 1991

I wrote to Theo Snelders, Aberdeen, to inform him that no more 043 gloves will be available, and to send him a Sukan catalogue to show the other gloves I do have available.

14th October 1991 9.40

Mrs.Carson phoned to order some goods for her husband, Tom Carson, Dundee, and 4 pairs 036 size 8.5 were sent to him (No.63).

14th October 1991 9.49-10.02

I phoned Jochen to ask if there was any limit on the amount of promotional goods that I would be sent, in view of my discussion with David Spensley last week. He said that he was not aware of any limit but felt that if the bosses thought that too much was being given away then something would be said, but he was not aware of any limit or problems. He did say that Line 7 had recently ordered some Tracksuits, Tee Shirts etc. as promotional goods. I mentioned that the St.Johnstone goalkeeper, Lindsay Hamilton, had approached Line 7 direct for a goods only contract, but they had decided not to offer him one. I also asked if at sometime he could give me the address of the uhlsport agent in Malaysia.

14th October 1991 11.50

Alan Main, Dundee United, phoned for some goods and 2 pairs 036 size 9, 2 pairs 040 size 9, 1 pair 578 XL were sent to him (No.64).

14th October 1991 2.00

Theo Snelders, Aberdeen, phoned for some 043. I told him that there were no more available and that I had written to him a couple of days ago to inform him. I said there was nothing else like these gloves so he decided to have 3 pairs 036 size 10 and they were sent to him (No.65).

14th October 1991 2.10

John Burridge, Hibernian, phoned to order 2 pairs 036 size 9.5 and they were sent to him (No.66). He asked if I had seen the photo in last weeks 90 MINUTES, and I said yes and it was good that he was shown wearing the uhlsport 544 Sky jersey before adidas stopped him, and insisted that he wore an adidas jersey.

14th October 1991 4.55

Bill Williams of Maidstone United phoned to find out the situation regarding getting uhlsport gloves for their goalkeepers. They had previously obtained Real gloves from ReaderSport who are based in Maidstone, but for some reason wished to change. I said that they could buy at the special prices but no free goods. Their reserve Nicky Johns, had previously had free goods but this was earlier in his career when he was with First Division clubs.

15th October 1991

I received a letter from Gary O'Connor, Hearts, requesting sponsorship. I do not think that he is worth a contract, but could buy at special prices, but thought that I had better check with David Spensley first.

15th October 1991

I tried to phone David Spensley, but he was out for the day, so sent a photocopy of Gary O'Connor's letter to him with a note requesting him to let me know what action he wishes me to take.

15th October 1991 12.05

Pavel Srnicek, Newcastle, phoned for some goods and 1 only 012 glove bag was sent to him (No.67). He also wanted shorts without padding but I told him that I was still waiting for the pair I ordered with Line 7 on 17th August for another goalkeeper, and Line 7 did not stock this item in the U.K. so could not help.

15th October 1991 12.40

Guido van der Kamp, Dundee United, phoned for some goods and 2 pairs 036 size 10.5, 1 pair 060 size 10.5, 1 pair 578 XL were sent to him (No.68). He had also wanted some 052 gloves and I told him they were not available in the U.K.

16th October 1991 10.19-10.23

I phoned Jochen to tell him that I had received the 3 parcels of promotional goods, but I had been sent 12 pairs 578 XXL, not the XL ordered. I asked if he could send the 12 pairs 578 XL as soon as possible as I had goalkeepers waiting and it was not an item stocked by Line 7 in the U.K. At the same time I ordered the tracksuit 5425 XL for Les Fridge.

16th October 1991 10.37-10.40

I phoned Marie at Line 7 to explain the situation with the 578 trousers and asked for her help. I suggested that she arranges to send me 12 pairs 578 XL free of charge and I will give to Line 7 the 12 pairs XXL that I have, this way the finances are correct without invoicing or credits. She said that she would check with France and let me know.

16th October 1991 11.47

David Spensley phoned to say that he agreed about offering Gary O'Connor, Hearts, special prices but no contract. He also asked if I could at sometime let him have a list of those people using the scheme and also those goalkeepers on goods only contracts. He said that now that the Line 7 footwear side is getting more organised and to his satisfaction, he is turning his attention to uhlsport and contracts, promotions, advertising etc. I said that I had many ideas in spreading the word and publicising uhlsport amongst goalkeeping consumers but no support or backing from Line 7, and the special prices scheme operates on a very low key basis, no attempts being made to push it. He ended by saying that he is actively trying to sign at the moment David James, Ian Walker and Eric Nixon.

16th October 1991

Having received a delivery I sent to Pavel Srnicek, Newcastle, 1 pair 076 size 11 (No.69), that was ordered on 22nd August.

16th October 1991

I wrote to Gary O'Connor, Hearts, saying no to sponsorship but giving details of special price scheme.

17th October 1991 4.00

Marie phoned to say that Herve would not agree to my suggestion that Line 7 supply me with 12 pairs 578 XL in exchange for the incorrect 578 XXL I recieved as promotional stock. I expressed my surprise and disappointment as after all I am only trying to help Line 7. I asked her to arrange for the XXL to be collected from me as soon as possible at Line 7's expense. I again asked for the return of my videos loaned for E.X.S.L.

17th October 1991 4.06-4.09

I phoned Jochen to ask if the 578 XL were in stock as because of the unwillingness of Line 7 to help they were even more urgently required. He said that he had passed the order on to Margret but did not know if they were in stock, but would do what he could.
