woi, what an apt picture -- watching the ball roll away from him after he's fumbled it. please, Ruud, play my man Wicks & pick up some points in the process

Notice he has landed on his elbow with his arm underneath him as well which is ver poor technique. Especially if you want to catch the ball or be able to grab it at the 2nd attempt.

it's not all his fault, of course -- his defense strikes me as pretty free-wheeling & he's been left exposed a lot. but some of the goals he's conceded have been atrocious (batting the ball out in front of him from the 6 yard box and them scoring on a rebound). makes me wonder, of all the talk about the tackiness of Contact foam gloves, does it give keepers who use them a false sense of security to catch shots otherwise best dealt with parrying/punching?

The MLS is plagued with a ton of not-very-good keepers (of course Busch, Howard, and few others are exceptions). In my opinion, they're ants compared to their Euro counterparts. Kind of gets my hopes up with my chances :p

Cronin also has a bad habit of putting both his hands up as if a shot is going wide, only to have it go in. I've seen him do it twice - once against Chivas and once against Marcella Gallardo and DC United. Not the kind of thing that inspires confidence.

And I do think it's harsh to say there are a ton of poor MLS keepers. For me only Cronin, Nick Rimando, and NY's Jon Conway are average. I think the rest are very good pros.
