Alright Brett,Saw you asking about Uni football other on OTF. As some others have said it really depends on the size of the uni. The first time i went to uni I played in the first team as a full back from the first year but between the two teams we had we struggled to get 30 players at training on a regular basis.
The uni i'm at now there are 4 teams, unfortunately a lot of selection choices are based on people being mates with the captains. For example the lad who is our 3rd team keeper is probably the best keeper on campus. I play 4ths but feel i should at least 3rds if not 2nds.Our facilities are okay but we are a small uni though. Our 1st play to a decent standard and have quite a few lads who have been on the books of top pro clubs.It's quite difficult for 1st years to break into the first team (especially keepers) unless you're considerably better than the rest.Hope that helps mateStephen
