CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED TWO

7th November 1991 1.30

Les Fridge, St.Mirren, phoned to say that he has now moved into his new home xxx Tel: xx . He then asked for a jersey, in particular 585. I said that I needed all the stocks that I had for selling and Line 7 had virtually no jerseys in stock as far as I knew. He eventually persuaded me to send a 649 Orange XL (No.87).

11th November 1991 4.30

Michael Watt, Aberdeen, phoned to say that he had just bought a new car and were there any miniature gloves available. I said that I did not have any and to the best of my knowledge Line 7 did not keep any in stock either.

11th November 1991

Having received a delivery I sent to Alan Knight, Portsmouth, 1 pair 578 XL (No.88).

11th November 1991 4.55

David Spensley phoned to ask me to send for Nicky Hammond, Swindon, 1 pair 036 size 8 (No.89). The gloves to be sent to Marcus Dunn xxx . I then mentioned the miniature gloves, but he was not familiar with the products, confirming the fact that Line 7 had no stocks of them, and I pointed out that they were on page 79 of the uhlsport catalogue. He then noticed the 027 foul weather gloves and asked about them.

12th November 1991 11.50

Tony Pickering, F.A.School, phoned to order some goods and he wanted 8 pairs 076 Goretex size 9, and I told him that I did not have this glove and to the best of my knowledge neither did Line 7. He said that when David Spensley had met him to arrange the deal he had shown the 076 Goretex. His alternative was 8 pairs 036 size 9 which I told him were not in stock with me, or I thought Line 7. I said that I would contact David Spensley with his request to see what he could or wanted me to do. I pointed out that I was led to believe that you were to get a mixture of training and match gloves, but only seemed to ask for match gloves. He asked if I could send him a catalogue of what was available and I said that I would again check with David Spensley first as the only catalogues I have show the full International range, not the range for the U.K.

12th November 1991

Having received a delivery I sent to Ludek Miklosko, West Ham, 4 pairs 036 size 10.5 (No.90).

12th November 1991 3.55

David Spensley returned my call and I passed on the details of the phone call from Tony Pickering, and it was agreed that he wopuld contact Tony Pickering himself and sort out what to send. He felt that we should tell the goalkeepers what they could have rather than letting the goalkeepers dictate. Whilst agreeing in principle, and the people I know I can do it with, but I have no knowledge of the agreement Line 7 made with the F.A.School so do not think it is my place to say something which may contradict the agreement and upset either or both Line 7 and the F.A.School. David was saying how difficult it was to get stock and information from uhlsport, I said that I do not know how Line 7 go about it, but the impression that I get is that they do not order early enough in advance or in sufficient quantity. I ended by asking if he had yet had a chance to build up a photographic library of uhlsport U.K. goalkeepers, as discussed months ago, and he said not yet.

12th November 1991 4.26-4.28

I phoned Tony Pickering, who was not there, and left a message that I had passed on his request to David Spensley who would be dealing with it.

13th November 1991

I bought and sent to Jochen this weeks issues of "Shoot" and "Match".

14th November 1991 12.25

Alan Main, Dundee United, phoned to request some gloves and 2 pairs 036 size 9.5, 1 pair 061 size 9.5 were sent to him (No.91). He said that he wanted to try size 9.5 instead of his usual size 9.

15th November 1991

Having received a delivery I sent to Theo Snelders, Aberdeen, 1 pair 076 Goretex size 10 (No.92), which he had requested from me on 12th August.

18th November 1991 10.32-10.34

I phoned Rebecca at Line 7 to ask for payment of promotional work for October. She said that it had been passed to France and she would try to chase it up.

20th November 1991

I bought and sent to Jochen this weeks issues of "Shoot" and "Match".

20th November 1991 1.20

Les Fridge, St.Mirren, phoned to request some goods and 2 pairs 073 size 9, 2 pairs 054 size 9, 1 pair 566 XL were sent to him (No.93).

20th November 1991 2.45

Guido van der Kamp, Dundee United, phoned to order some goods and 2 pairs 036 size 11 were sent to him (No.94). He also wanted some 027 gloves and I said that they were for outfield players not goalkeepers, and in any case were not available in the U.K.

20th November 1991 4.05-4.08

I phoned Rebecca to ask if she had spoken to Herve about my promotional payment. She said yes and apparently Herve has no more cheques in France so cannot pay me, a new cheque book has been sent to Line 7 in England but nobody in England has authority to sign cheques. Herve is due in England on Tuesday and she will get him to do my cheques then.

21st November 1991 1.50

John Lukic, Leeds, phoned to order some goods and 3 pairs 036 size 10, 1 pair 040 size 9.5 were sent to him (No.95).

25th November 1991 1.30-1.44

I phoned Jochen to talk about things in general and to specifically ask if there was any news on the outstanding promotional goods, answer no, and to see if he knew when it was likely that Line 7 would have promotional stock for them to take over the work. He could not say for sure but guessed that it would be after the New Year. I also pointed out that Line 7 could not yet pay my promotional work invoice because they had no cheque book in France, and nobody in England was authorised to sign a cheque. Jochen asked if I had seen the P.*. work they were doing and I said that all I know about was in "Match" new products page, featuring 036 gloves which have been on sale for over 2 years, so hardly a new product. He asked about Peter Shilton and a charity concerning Solvent Abuse, and I said that I had not seen anything about this. Also nothing had appeared in "Shoot" regarding the SHOOT/uhlsport Goalkeeper of the Year Award that I had done last season, but this year I was told that it was being done by Line 7 and their P.*. company.

26th November 1991 11.55

Theo Snelders, Aberdeen, phoned for some goods and 3 pairs 036 size 10, 1 pair 566 XL were sent to him (No.96). He said that he had received the 076 Goretex gloves and could I send him more, I said no as it was not stocked in the U.K. and I had got the pair sent to him recently as a special order, which had taken some months to arrive.

28th November 1991

I bought and sent to Jochen this weeks issues of "Shoot" and "Match".
