He therefore ordered 2 pairs of each style and 2 pairs of 573 XL trousers. I asked him if he was under contract, and he said yes, but he does not appear on any list you gave me. He said that he had been getting gloves for 5-6 years, usually getting 12-14 pairs at the start of the season. He said that at the start of this season he was sent 4-5 pairs. This was not done through me. Should you have any problems his home phone number is xx . If you send goods can he also have an up to date catalogue.

Jim Stannard, Fulham, phoned again to see if there was any news on the gloves he requested on 12th January. I tried to explain the situation as well as I could, which is difficult without mentioning the agency situation, and goalkeepers who have been used to a system for 4-5 years find it difficult to understand why it has been changed without any really satisfactory explanation. I said that I would try to ring him back with an answer.

He was fairly angry and kept saying what a stupid situation it was, when I explained the system now in operation i.e. I pass on his request to Readers, who pass it on to Germany. I said that I would pass on his feelings and request for urgent action to Readers.

28th January 1988 10.20
