John Lukic, Arsenal, phoned in response to my many efforts to contact him. It was too late to arrange a meeting with Axel Stokinger, but Axel was with me at the time so they spoke on the phone. His new address is xx Tel: xx . He asked me for a pair of 015 size 9 to be sent to him urgently, if possible to reach him for Sundays televised game. They were posted first class (No.24).

Sammy Chung, Stoke, phoned to say that he has not received the gloves ordered with me on 1st February. I said that the message had been passed on, and I would check with Readers. I phoned Danielle and she said the gloves were on their way.

Mark Kendall, Wolves, phoned to request 2 pairs 021 size 8.5, and a pair of Air Safe shinpads. I informed him that there would be a change of British agent for uhlsport from April 1st., which may mean a change in procedure but at this stage I did not know for certain. I said that he would be informed if and when there was a change. The gloves were posted (No.26).

9th February 1988 1.15

Gerry Peyton, Bournemouth, phoned me to say that he has been phoned by Don Howe regarding uhlsport being involved with the Irish keepers at the European Championships. Gerry was surprised as he has been getting his uhlsport gloves through me, and we have discussed in the past his signing a contract, see my note of 5th January, where Gerry said that he would check with Pat Bonner for me as well. Gerry also asked about new gloves which Don Howe had told him about, I said that I had seen next season's models but had not received any samples or photographs yet. I also said that there was a trade show in Bournemouth at the end of March and I would inform him of the date closer to the time.

9th February 1988

I wrote a letter to Gary Kelly at Newcastle to offer him a glove contract. An uhlsport catalogue was also sent.

9th February 1988 10.10 p.m.

Ian Walker, F.A. School, phoned to say that he had received the gloves, but the shiguards that he was recently sent had broken. I asked him to return them so that they could be looked at.

Alan Knight, Portsmouth, phoned to order 1 pair 015 size 9.5, 1 pair 096 size 9.5 and 1 pair XL trousers. These were sent to him (No.27). I informed him of the change of distributors from April 1st., and suggested that he may wish to visit the Bournemouth Trade Show at the end of March to see the new range. He said that he was interested, and possibly in the footwear as well as he presently uses adidas boots but is not very happy with them.

I was told by a customer that Peter Shilton was wearing Reusch Pro-Pant trousers and uhlsport gloves for Derby in their match against Manchester United on 10th February. I do not know if this is true or not.

Kevin Shoemake, Peterborough, phoned to say that he has not received the gloves ordered with me on 12th January. I said that I would look into it as I understood that Readers had already dealt with it. I also asked if an uhlsport advert went into Peterborough's programme, and was told that this would be looked into by Caroline. She phoned back to say that a half page advert was in every issue, and a sample would be sent to me. I checked with Readers about the gloves, they had not been sent, so I posted them on 15th February (No.28).

Les Fridge, St.Mirren, phoned to request 1 pair 015 size 9 and 1 pair 096 size 9. They were sent to him (No.29). His home address is xx and no home phone number.

Bobby Geddes, Dundee, phoned to request 2 pairs 040 size 9 and they were sent to him (No.30). I congratulated him on his appearance as an over age player for the Scotland Under 21 team v England on 16th February. He confirmed his home address is xx Tel: xx .

Bryan Gunn, Norwich, phoned to ask if there was any news of the 585 jerseys. I said that they had not yet arrived but were due to leave Germany by the end of February. He also asked if he could have a training suit, at present he has a Light Blue Pin Stripe in size 8. I said that no stocks were kept in England but I would check with Germany for him.

Jake Findlay, Coventry, phoned to ask for 2 pairs 034 size 9. They were sent to him (No.31).

I phoned Neville Southall, to see how the situation was with the possibility of him signing an uhlsport contract. He said that he had tried out the gloves and was quite happy with the quality and that he preferred them to others that he had tried. He said that regarding the contract would have to speak to his solicitor Mr.Zak Harazi xx Tel: xx .

19th February 1988 2.45-2.55

I phoned Mr.Zak Harazi, regarding Neville Southall. I was anxious to state uhlsport's interest in signing him, as I had heard that Puma were saying that they were on the verge of signing him, along with another unknown top goalkeeper. Neville is presently contracted to Puma for boots. Mr.Harazi said that his contract with Sondico finished at the end of May 1988. He had received offers from Sondico to continue the contract, from Puma, plus interest from uhlsport. I believe that Reusch are not looking to sign him, but of course if Puma get him he will be wearing Reusch made Puma gloves. I said that uhlsport were very interested and that I would ask Axel Stokinger to contact him. Mr.Harazi said that he had received a five figure offer over 3 years, plus from Puma a contract plus royalties on sales which would make it a five figure offer over 3 years. Puma were very keen to sign him, as a figure head for their glove range.

I tried to phone Axel Stokinger to pass on this information, but he was not there, so left a message for him to contact me.

Nicky Johns, Queens Park Rangers, phoned to request some goods to be sent to his home address xx . 3 pairs 034 size 9, 3 pairs 040 size 9, 1 glove bag, 2 pairs 573 Large trousers, which I was able to send to him (No.32). He also wanted 2 Large jerseys for training, 2 pairs Large Black shorts (English style) and 2 only 4003 holdalls. He is not under contract and I said that I would look into this and might send him a contract to sign. Readers phoned me on 25th February to say that they were sending him 2 x 539 jerseys Green Large and 2 pairs 556 shorts Large.

Axel Stokinger phoned from Germany, returning my call, and I passed on the information about Neville Southall. He asked me to send him a Puma catalogue, showing their goalkeepers range, which I did.

David Matthews of West Bromwich Albion, phoned to request the following goods for Stuart Naylor, 2 pairs 040 size 9, 1 pair 554 trousers XL, which were sent to him (No.34). He also wanted a pair of shorts, but I said that they were not sold in this country, so would probably not be able to help.

22nd February 1988 1.55

David Felgate, Bolton, phoned to request 1 pair 015 size 8 and 1 pair 034 size 8. He said that the 015 did not last long so that is why I suggested he tried the 034. Gloves sent (No.35).

Nigel Spink, Aston Villa, phoned to request some 034 size 10. 2 pairs were sent to him (No.36). He also asked for a pair of continental long cut XL shorts. I informed him that there would be a delay on this while I checked with Germany.
