8th June 1988
Wrote to John Lukic, Arsenal, saying cannot help with his request for £xx contract payment in July, can only be half July 1988, the other half January 1989.
9th June 1988 4.30
Alan Knight, Portsmouth, phoned to see if he was still under contract as he has had a couple of letters from Sondico. I informed him that my information was that he was still under contract until 1st July 1989. I also told him that I had sent him 3 items of leisurewear in the last few days. He would like a current uhlsport catalogue, and a 1987/88 and 1988/89 teamsport catalogues were sent to him.
He also asked about Line 7 boots and I said that I would pass on his interest.
10th June 1988
Wrote to Mike Stowell, Everton, as requested by Axel to offer him free of charge gloves. Enclosed uhlsport catalogues 1987/88 and 1988/89 teamsport.
13th June 1988 12.50
John Burridge, Southampton, phoned to say that the club has asked him for jerseys, if he wants to wear uhlsport next season, so that they can get the sponsorship printing done correctly. He said that he wanted 543, 544 and I said that hopefully they were on their way to me from Germany and so I should be able to get some to him in the near future. His home address is now xx Tel: xx . He said that he has got some good photos of him from a Southampton match programme, and would send them on to me. Leisurewear, holdall, shinguards sent to him (No.24).
13th June 1988
Received leisurewear from Germany for Phil Parkes, goods sent to him (No.25).
14th June 1988 9.50
Axel phoned to say that he had met up with both the England and Ireland teams. He had supplied Gerry Peyton with a lot of goods, probably enough for the whole of the forthcoming season. With reference to Bryan Gunn, my note of 9th May, he would like to re-sign him but for payment of £xx or maximum £xx , not the £xx he told me that Sondico offered him. I must stress the quality and choice of gloves. It was agreed that I should get some letterheads printed for the promotional work I do. He also said that in the summer/autumn will need to have new photographs taken. I do not personally know any photographers, but Bob Thomas is the official England photographer, and his work appears in magazines throughout the world. If possible I think that it would be best to get all (or as many as possible) of the goalkeepers together in one place for photographs, rather than sending a photographer around the country, or getting different photographers. If a group photograph could be taken I believe that this would have great possibilities for publicity purposes, and would be well worth the trouble and cost involved in arranging it.
16th June 1988
Received goods from Germany and sent to John Burridge, Southampton, 2 only 543 Large and 2 only 544 Large jerseys. (No.26).
16th June 1988
Sent to Sammy Chung, Stoke City, 8 only 544 Large jerseys for all their teams. The quantity is more than would usually be sent to a 2nd Division team, but they also buy various items and therefore worth stretching the rules a little (No.27).
17th June 1988
Sent to Bryan Gunn, Norwich, 2 pairs 015 size 10 and catalogues (No.28).
Have checked with Sondico on 2 occassions to see what they will now call the Sondico Neville Southall Pro glove. They inform me that they know Neville has not yet signed a contract with them, but have not been told that he has signed for anybody else. So far all they have done is to now call it the Southall Pro, dropping Neville, and are presently preparing adverts for the new season which will include the Southall Pro. I strongly suggest that they should be contacted and "asked" to change the name of the glove as soon as practical.
20th June 1988 9.45-9.49
Phoned Gudrun, Axel was not there, to inform her that Sondico was still selling a Southall glove. She said that she would pass the information on to Axel.
