Peter Shilton, Derby, phoned to ask for 2 pairs 578 trousers size Large. I told him that I did not have any in stock but would send them on when available which should be next week. I asked if he was okay for gloves, jerseys and he said yes.

I had not heard from uhlsport about delivery of promotional stock so I phoned them. Margret is on holiday but her colleague said that some goods were due to be sent to me early next week. I again asked for a quick delivery as they are urgently required.

Mark Irwin of "Shoot" phoned regarding the Goalkeeper of the Year award. They have contacted the winner Andy Rhodes and he is prepared to travel to the Football Show in Birmingham on Sunday 4th August to receive the award, provided that somebody paid his air fare from Edinburgh to Birmingham. He asked if uhlsport would be prepared to contribute to the cost. I said that I would check with Line 7 and let him know. He really wanted a quick answer so that he could confirm it with Andy Rhodes.

I tried to telephone Herve at Line 7 but the phone was just left ringing for about 5 minutes with nobody answering it.

I phoned Mark Irwin to say that I could not contact Line 7 or uhlsport but I was prepared to say on their behalf that they would contribute to his travel costs, which we estimated would be around £100. At the moment they do not have anybody to present the award so they would be happy for somebody from Line 7 to make the presentation. I told him that I would get back to him once I had been able to speak to Line 7.

I received a letter from Daniel Honey, Reading, requesting sponsorship.

I wrote to Daniel Honey to say that the best he could be offered by uhlsport was special prices, and details were sent.

I received back from Pavel Srnicek. Newcastle, a signed 2 year goods only contract.

I phoned Herve regarding "Shoot" and Andy Rhodes. He agreed to the sharing of the cost and also that somebody from Line 7, probably him as David Spensley will be on holiday, will attend on the Sunday to make the presentation. I said that I would keep him informed.

I phoned Mark Irwin at "Shoot" to say that Line 7 had agreed to the cost sharing etc., and gave him Herve's number so that they could sort out the details between themselves.

Tony Pickering of the F.A.School at Lilleshall, Tel: xx , phoned to say that the gloves he received were not complete. I said that I had sent all that David Spensley had asked me to for immediate, with gloves for Richard Hurst and Neil Cutler to be sent around 1st September. He said that in his letter to David Spensley he had asked for *.Hopper 2 pairs 073 size 9, 2 pairs 071 size 9 and for A.Woods 2 pairs 071 size 9, 2 pairs 036 size 9. I told him that I had only been told about the 2 pairs each of 071 but could send him 2 pairs of 036 today, but the 073 was not yet available. He said that as long as they were with him by August 5th that would be okay. For the other goalkeepers he had asked for *.Hurst 071 size 9, 073 size 9 and *.Cutler 061 size 9.5, 073 size 9.5. This about agreed with what I had been given but he was saying 2 pairs of each rather than the 1 pair I had been told.

Herve phoned to ask me to send some goods to the new Dundee United (reserve ?) Guido van den Kamp, who has signed from Den Bosch. He has been using uhlsport in Holland but it was not known if he was under contract. He wanted 5 pairs gloves, 2 pairs trousers and I said that I could send some straight away but not the full quantity and 3 pairs 036 size 10.5, 1 pair 578 XL were sent to him (No.2).

Alan Knight, Portsmouth, phoned to ask if he could have different jerseys to the 544 for matches. I said that I would send him a catalogue but to remember that not all styles were stocked in the U.K., but I would indicate on the catalogue the styles Line 7 say they keep in stock. Catalogue sent (No.3).

Alan Main, Dundee United, phoned to request some goods and 2 pairs 036 size 9, 1 pair 040 size 9, 1 pair 041 size 9, 1 pair 578 XL, 1 only 544 Green XL were sent to him (No.4). He also asked about tracksuits either 5418 or 5419 XL and I said that they were not stocked in the U.K. but I would try to get one for him.

Eric Engstrom phoned to ask for some goods for Ludek Miklosko, West Ham, who wanted 5 pairs 036 size 10.5 and 1 pair 578 XL. I said that I could not do it all immediately and 2 pairs 036 size 10.5 were sent to him (No.5) with remainder to follow.

Alan Main, Dundee United, phoned to say that he had received the goods oprdere yesterday. He said that the 041 gloves were not suitable and he would return them, and asked for a pair of shorts and 1 pair 566 XL were sent to him (No.6).
